An access log is a detailed list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a given website. Every file that was requested for some reason will be listed, so if you have one webpage with three embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for any of the 6 files that were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log normally contains the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Sometimes you could also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The info an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the performance of an Internet site, in addition to the web stats which your web hosting server may have created.
Access Log Manager in Shared Web Hosting
Our custom Hepsia CP has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. As you sign in to your shared web hosting account and take a look at this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to each domain/subdomain. If the option is enabled, you shall see a download link and also the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your PC and look at it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect right away, so if you don't need one, you may stop it with just a click from the same exact section of the CP. You shall still have the ability to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it shall not take more than a couple of mouse clicks to permit the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The function may be permitted via the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this could be done individually for each and every domain name or subdomain which you have inside your account. Once you log in and go to the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. One click shall trigger the log generation and a second one will deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great ease. A Download link within the same section will permit you to save the generated content as a text file, which you may then use on your personal computer. Even if the logs are deactivated, you will still be able to download the data which has been previously generated.
